Alice vagy Vörös Királynő? / Alice or the Red Queen

(English version below)

Kati: Rave party?

Torony: Igen. A Vörös Királynő meglátta őt hetyegni a Kalapossal, és úgy gondolta, hogy a diszkógömböt fejekre lehetne cserélni.

Kati: A Kalapossal?

Hold: Love is love. (A kezével szívecskét formál.)”

——————— When 32 years’ worth of restrained surrealism finally comes together, some pretty interesting things can emerge from it. And I have my doubts about whether you can actually put the genie back in the bottle. Which raises an even better question: do I want to?

The answer is probably a very firm no.

I’m curious to explore the sealed-off layers of my own mind. I wonder what lies behind the question of what is and isn’t allowed. What happens if I start questioning the dogmas that have been holding me back all this time? For example, a play written for a competition featuring tarot figures, an identity crisis, a rave party, Steve Irwin and Crocodil Dundee, seasoned with a pinch of neurospiciness.

“Tower: (The Tower steps out of one of the tunnels, leaving Kati staring at him in utter disbelief.) Don’t expect more from the Moon; you’d need pliers to get the truth out of her. The White Rabbit left the country in ’94 after a disastrously bad rave party.

Kati: A rave party?

Tower: Yes. The Red Queen saw him getting frisky with the Hatter and decided the disco ball might as well be replaced with heads.

Kati: The Hatter?

Moon: Love is love. (She makes a heart shape with her hands.)”

And I’m even planning my Call of Dragons server around this whole theme. Simply because life is a little too short not to invite the unacceptable thoughts hiding in the back corners of our minds out to play. Whether they turn into a game of chess, an escape room, or a rave party remains to be seen.

For now, the only question is: do I want to be Alice, or the Red Queen?
