Amikor az alkotás is a maszkod részévé válik/When Your Art Becomes Part of Your Mask
(English below)
Igen.
A Píedik járat világában bizonyos villamosok érkezését emberek akasztásával jelzik.
Szerintem a tarot pakli Halál lapja tökéletesen passzol is ide.

Yes. Art can be a mask too. When you don't dare show what's actually going on inside your head, when you keep taming your thoughts until they're conformist enough that nobody will lynch you for them. And no, I'm not talking about being uncontrolled here, completely ignoring form, or simply not knowing how to use it. Because if you're creating for more than just the drawer, some kind of framework is still necessary, even if it's held together by nothing more than a single rusty nail.
I'm talking about the choice of subject matter and how you choose to portray it:
We don't write about politics, unless we wrap it in cellophane, because oh God, what will Uncle Rózsa think, and then they'll finally ban us from the Sunday family lunch we've never wanted to go to anyway.
We don't write about miscarriage, because everyone should keep themselves and their pain within the four walls of their home. And if you didn't even do it within an institutional framework, then go hide in the corner.
We don't approach sad subjects with humor, because then we can't hide behind pity, behind institutionalized grief.
We don't write about what happens when someone doesn't fit the established framework – only cautiously, preferably as seriously as if we were talking about rectal cancer, just to make absolutely sure we don't offend the majority society too much. Or what we think is the majority society. But that's a post for another time.
So we keep taming our opinions, our anger, our despair, our pain, our rage, until what comes out is a difficult-to-digest but at least swallowable rubber duck.
Or not even that.
A core memory from my teenage years: having it thrown in my face that girls don't write about difficult subjects.
Thanks, but unfortunately glitter ponies don't come as standard equipment with me.
In the world of The Fifth Line, the arrival of certain trams is announced by people being hanged.
I think the Death card from the Tarot deck fits in rather perfectly.
Something has to die for the mask to finally fall away.
