My Biggest Mistake
I think one of my biggest mistakes in life was that I spent too much time on people’s potential.
What they could be if they put the work into themselves.
I saw so many amazing people who had shrunk into self-doubt and self-hatred, hiding behind masks.
I saw them all.
I believed in them.
I helped them.
The issue was that I cannot help someone who cannot help themselves.
I mean, the truth is painful, change is painful, sometimes incredibly painful, but at the end of the day, that is the only thing that truly sets you free.
And new habits. New habits need time and consistency. Which they didn’t put in because they thought I would always be there, I would always solve it.
And yes, I did. I stayed, I tried, because all my life I wished someone would step up for me.
One single time.
Only once.
But nope.
Me, who was always there, became the person no one ever stood up for.
Neither in my childhood, nor in my teenage years, nor in my adulthood.
I poured into cups that never poured back into mine.
People who chose their fear, their pain, their trauma, their comfort zone instead of me.
None of them chose me. They chose their pride, their ego, the belief that they knew everything better, that they knew what I needed, etc. The bullshit that I deserve better—I know exactly what I want and deserve. No one needs to correct me.
I am so done with this too.
I will never choose people who prefer sitting in their comfort zone over choosing me. Because I am not the most comfortable option.
How much time I wasted on people I should have never chosen... them not even realizing how much I gave them.
