The Rabbit Hole Has Wi-Fi

Why So Serious?

It is time to be a little less serious. To write a little less about healing journeys and philosophical whatever.

Because I told ya' that I am a dreamer.

But I haven't really shown it yet.

I haven't shown you how that Sun actually shines.

What I see is an orange grove in Italy.

If I close my eyes, I can smell freshly squeezed orange juice and taste baklava. Because not so long ago, I made baklava. I'm not saying it was perfect, because chopping walnuts with a not-so-sharp knife isn't the most enjoyable thing I've ever done. But it wasn't bad either. At least I had the chance to improve my knife skills.

Honestly, I can already see myself doing the exact same thing there, because I always try to solve the problems I see in front of me. They annoy the hell out of me.

And I can hear the laughter of the love of my life because I bet he'd be hitting himself on the forehead, watching how stubborn I am.

Not like he isn't just as headstrong.

I see a small, incredibly messy workshop for all my crafting ideas.

My private temple, where no one can tell me how things should look.

And in that workshop I see an old typewriter and a really good computer, so I can both play games and prepare for my doctoral thesis.

Because I want to write about storytelling in video games.

Who says you can't learn and have fun at the same time?

I see a house with air conditioning because I don't plan on dying during the summer heatwaves.

And a pool.

And a porch where I can sit at night with the person I love, talking about the big questions of life.

And I see a greenhouse full of rare epiphytic plants.

I see myself covered in soil, trying to get back into the house to take a shower, while my man is shouting that I can't come inside until I've brushed all that dirt off in the garden.

And I see myself laughing...

...and walking inside anyway.

Because I am a real rebel.

I see myself sitting on a terrace surrounded by friends, glasses of Aperol Spritz on the table, talking about literature, history, and the big questions of life.

I see myself and my family dancing in the street with a bunch of strangers to "Sarà perché ti amo."

I see my love choosing which sundress I should wear before we go to the beach because he always said he wanted to dress me like a Barbie doll.

And honestly...

Dresses suit my personality perfectly.

I see myself driving to the university.

Teaching.

Learning.

Working together with people with whom we can all grow.

And then driving home filled with love and peace.

I see myself sitting under an orange tree with a laptop on my lap, writing one of my crazy novel ideas.

And when my love comes over to interrupt my creative process...

I throw an orange at him.

No one disturbs me when I'm creating.

No one.

I see a huge BBQ terrace.

Gatherings with friends, family, and neighbors.

I see chickens.

Indian Runner ducks.

Maybe even a few horses.

Riding horses has been my childhood dream.

I see myself surrounded by friends and family.

People I love, and who love me.

People I sometimes argue with, but at the end of the day love is stronger than disagreement.

I see myself sharing the burdens of life.

Creating something meaningful.

Something that lasts.

So now I choose this dream every single day.

And I choose these people every single day.

Because not only the journey and the destination matter.

So do the people you choose to share them with.
